University expands cooperation with the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne

Rector Tetyana Kahanovska and Vice-Rector Anatolii Babichev met with the leadership of EPFL, one of the most famous universities in Europe and the world, the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.

It is a significant achievement to cooperate with the university, which is ranked 16th in the world and 5th in Europe in the authoritative QS World University Rankings. Karazin University also holds a worthy place in the QS rankings: For 8 years in a row, it has been ranked first among Ukrainian universities.

The delegation of Karazin University met with the heads of structural units to discuss the development of scientific cooperation between universities, sustainability issues, and the implementation of joint projects aimed at addressing the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine. We also had the opportunity to talk to students from Ukraine who are currently studying in Lausanne.

The meetings resulted in specific agreements and an understanding of the implementation of joint educational projects. In particular, an inter-university interdisciplinary working group will be set up in the near future to develop joint scientific developments.

During their visit to the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, they also met with a prominent Ukrainian scientist, Maryna Vyazovska, who is a laureate of the Fields Prize, the most prestigious award in mathematical science in the world. Together, they discussed the support and development of mathematical science in Ukraine, particularly in Kharkiv.
