A Memorial Plaque Unveiled in Kharkiv for Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Professor of Karazin University, and Honored Doctor of Ukraine Yevhen Dmytrovych Khvorostov

On September 11, a memorial plaque was installed on the facade of Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital on Railway Transport No. 2, in honor of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases, Distinguished Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Yevhen Dmytrovych Khvorostov. The plaque was placed at the entrance to the surgical ward, where Yevhen Dmytrovych served as the chief surgeon and worked for 26 years of his life.

On September 13, Yevhen Dmytrovych would have turned 85 years old. The Dean of the School of Medicine, Tetiana Liadova, spoke warmly about his legacy: "Yevhen Dmytrovych Khvorostov carried out a noble mission: he cared for the most valuable thing a person has — their health. He possessed a unique way of thinking and emotional organization, embodying the finest traditions of the medical elite, which serve the people of Ukraine — medical honor and civic responsibility, high morality and intelligence, diligence and professionalism. His tireless work, exceptional professionalism, perseverance, talent as a doctor, wisdom as a skilled leader, and personal sense of responsibility earned him great respect among colleagues and patients. His dedication to his craft and desire to improve surgical practices were truly unique."

At the unveiling of the memorial plaque, attendees included Vice-Rector Anton Panteleymonov, Rector’s Advisor and academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Vil Bakirov, Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases Serhii Bychkov, Hospital General Director Serhii Brovinskyi, Head of the Southern Railway (2000–2012) and Hero of Ukraine Viktor Ostapchuk, Doctor of Medical Sciences Ihor Belozorov, Yevhen Khvorostov’s daughter Larysa Shevchenko, as well as representatives from Karazin University and the hospital.

Each attendee had the opportunity to speak, and all remembered Yevhen Dmytrovych as a professional, a man with a compassionate heart, steadfast principles, and a dignified character. Everyone noted that working with Yevhen Dmytrovych was an honor and a source of great gratitude.
