The V. M. Voyevodin International Scientific and Technical Conference "Issues of Modern Nuclear Energy" has started at Karazin University

Kharkiv has always been one of the main centers of nuclear physics and energy development, and Karazin University is among the leading institutions where research and education in the field of nuclear physics are promoted and conducted.

The International Scientific and Technical Conference named after V. M. Voyevodin "Issues of Modern Nuclear Energy" started at the university and will last until April 19.

The conference was organized by the NGO "Ukrainian Nuclear Society", the National Science Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology", and V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The opening remarks to the conference participants were delivered by the Deputy Director General for Scientific Work of the NSC "KPTI", Professor of the Department of Reactor Materials and Physical Technologies of the NSC "KPTI", Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykola Azarenkov, Vice-Rector of Karazin University Anton Panteleimonov, Executive Secretary of the NGO "UkrNYS" Danylo Lavrenov, and Director of the NRC "Nuclear Fuel Cycle" of the NSC "KPTI" Volodymyr Krasnorutskyi. Members of the presidium wished the participants fruitful work and interesting discussions.

The conference moderator was the head of the Department of Reactor Materials and Physical Technologies of the NSC "KPTI" Serhiy Lytovchenko.

During three days of the conference, participants will present the results of their research and innovative ideas in the following areas:

  • Development of the nuclear energy complex of Ukraine;
  • Materials for nuclear energy;
  • Increasing the level of safety and efficiency of NPP operation;
  • Extension of the operating life of power units and aging management of NPP equipment;
  • Nuclear, radiation, and environmental safety in handling radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel;
  • Problems of thermonuclear fusion;
  • Public relations in the nuclear industry.
