Karazin University hosted the forum "Education. Science. Business" forum
On June 14, Karazin University was visited by representatives of government, business, the educational sector, and scientists to discuss common problems and prospects for cooperation at the "Education. Science. Business" forum.
In particular, the event was attended by the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleg Syniegubov, the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council Tetyana Yegorova-Lutsenko, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the Head of the Subcommittee on Higher Education of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Yuliia Hryshyna, the Deputy Head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education Olena Yeremenko, the Deputy Head of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv Region Anatolii Torianyk, the Rector of Karazin University Tetyana Kaganovska.
Oleg Syniegubov emphasized the relevance and importance of the forum: "It's time to unite public authorities, government, business, education and science. We have to meet modern requirements and the issue of reviving business, education, and science in Kharkiv region is very acute. This is the first such event. We can announce that there will be several of them - in the main areas. It is very important to honestly look each other in the eye and say what challenges we currently face. We have to do everything possible in the shortest possible time to ensure that our graduates meet the requirements of employers that are currently in place. Human resources are our first priority. We have seen the scientific developments at Karazin University. We have requests from international investors who are ready to invest in these projects. However, they must be realistic and calculated. We are ready to combine international business and the university to ensure that these projects are implemented here in Kharkiv region."
"Despite the situation in which Ukraine and our region find themselves, it is nice to see that today there are powerful business representatives, scientists, authorities, local, regional, and people's deputies who are interested in the future of not only Karazin University but also our country as a whole. Speaking of education and science, they must go in tandem with business. Only then will we get very powerful results. Such forums show that we are moving on, we are the Kharkiv region, we are the scientific capital of our country. And we will not stop, nothing will stop us," said Tetyana Yegorova-Lutsenko.
Ihor Terekhov emphasized the importance of a dialogue between the government, business, and representatives of education and science, and that the fate and appearance of Kharkiv after our Victory depends on each of us.
Tetyana Kaganovska shared her thoughts on the current situation in education and prospects: "We believe in our Victory and are already starting to make plans for the future. Although a year ago our only desire was to survive and keep our children safe, we were thinking about how Karazin University would work during the war. We live under extraordinary conditions, under shelling, which still affects our city and region. We can count the amount of destruction, but we cannot count the human losses, and most importantly, we cannot count the educational losses. We are losing our educational potential. Therefore, the university did not stop its activities even despite the war. For almost four months, we held open lectures every weekend at our locations, in all safe spaces, we opened the Museum of Archeology, the Landau Center, so that children would not lose touch with science and school."
She also emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in training specialists, in solving common problems between the state, education and business, which is crucial for the future of our country.
Tetyana Kaganovska also presented the university's activities since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The event also featured case studies from Karazin University scientists aimed at solving current problems:
- restoration of agricultural land, in particular, in terms of demining of dangerous areas to restore and strengthen the agricultural sector in Kharkiv region;
- cyber-physical technologies, nuclear medicine and energy, a project of the International Center for Nuclear Medicine to treat patients with radiosurgical methods;
- psychophysical rehabilitation of military and civilian victims of hostilities: creation of specialized teams to provide comprehensive care and innovative developments to restore tissue of the victims;
- restoring the supply of quality drinking water to the population, minimizing the risks caused by constant shelling of infrastructure and terrorist acts by Russia;
- use of artificial intelligence in control systems to restore economic activity of industrial enterprises in Kharkiv region, including diagnostics and automation of production processes.
In addition, cooperation agreements were signed between Karazin University and organizations and enterprises of the Kharkiv region: Ukrainian Energy Machines Joint Stock Company, UkrSibbank Joint Stock Company, Enamine Company, SoftServe IT Company, and the Kharkiv Information Technology Cluster Public Union.
Everyone could also contribute to the restoration of Karazin University through the Kharkiv Karazin University Foundation.
We are confident that this event will become a driver of powerful changes, a key to the future reconstruction and development of the entire Kharkiv region.
