University Student Council Elects Deputy Chairman of the Student Council — Commissioner for the State Language
Following the meeting of Karazin University students with the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremen, the Student Council of the University decided to elect a language ombudsman among the representatives of the student community.
Tetyana Seheda, a 3rd year student of the School of Philology, was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Student Council and the Commissioner for the State Language among students.
"This innovation is intended to popularize our language and culture, because Karazin University has been, is and always will be the center of Ukrainian culture and language in Kharkiv," said Mykyta Kucherov, Chairman of the University Student Council.
The introduction of the position of the Rector’s Advisor on the State Language at Karazin University is the first example in Ukraine of real protection of students’ rights to receive education in Ukrainian.
The introduction of a student language ombudsman is equally important to ensure compliance with the law and the use of the state language in the educational process. In addition, it will help students understand the importance of following language norms and contribute to their professional development in the future.
