The Merge of the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy and Karazin University
The Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy is a well-known and esteemed institution of higher education with traditions, achievements, and significant results in its educational and scientific activities. The collective of Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin holds great respect for the achievements and accomplishments of their colleagues, seeing in this collaboration an opportunity for joint work, learning, and the creation of powerful collaborative educational and scientific projects.
Today, official documents have been published, initiating the process of merging Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin and the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy. From this moment on, the teams of both institutions join forces to tackle a complex yet vital task, which is to preserve and strengthen the educational and scientific potential of higher education institutions in Kharkiv and throughout Ukraine in the conditions of war.
We are confident that this decision will provide grounds to unite the efforts of the university and academy, develop clear and transparent algorithms for further constructive cooperation, and significantly enhance the potential and capabilities of our universities in challenging economic conditions during the war and its aftermath. The necessity of such strategic decisions is driven by the demands of the time and the need to improve the quality of educational services for students, fostering collaboration between the scientific and pedagogic communities of our educational institutions to preserve and enhance Kharkiv's status as a leading educational, scientific, and cultural center in the country.
It is worth noting that Karazin University has experience with two similar mergers. The collectives of the Banking Institute of the University of Banking of Ukraine and the Institute of Public Administration, which was a part of the National Academy of Public Administration, have already become a part of the university. These cases were challenging, but jointly we managed to create collaboration algorithms. Today, these collectives are thriving within Karazin University, strengthening their resources and positions, and finding new inspiration for work despite the difficult conditions of war.
The question of merger involves numerous organizational aspects. It is emphasized that students who enrolled in the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy under specific educational programs will continue their education in those programs. We should be geared towards cooperation and a constructive approach to resolving the situation. According to the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Science, such cooperation will attract additional funds for the education of educated and highly professional specialists, as well as restoring and rebuilding our institutions.
Like any similar situation, reorganization is a challenging decision. Any merger is undoubtedly a stress for both the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy and the collective of Karazin University. We will make every effort to ensure that the merging of collectives occurs on the basis of the "win-win" principle, preserving the interests of the student and scientific-educational community of our collectives.
Understanding the significant public interest in the situation of merging the collectives of Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin and the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy, we will make every possible effort to ensure that this process is open and transparent. We will promptly inform the public about its results.
