Career Guidance Masterclass by the Graduate of the School of Geology, Geography, Recreation, and Tourism, Valentin Sypavin.
On February 14, 2024, a meeting with the graduate of the Institute of Physical Geography and Cartography, Valentin Sypavin, took place at the School of Geology, Geography, Recreation, and Tourism. A distinguished alpinist and ice climber, well-known in Ukraine and worldwide, shared his professional and personal experiences.
Valentin Sypavin has conquered iconic peaks around the world, including Elbrus, Kazbek, Mount Abu Ali ibn Sina, Damavand, Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, K2, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Alpamayo, McKinley, and has been on the summit of Everest five times. He holds a Guinness World Record for kayaking at the highest altitude and led the first Ukrainian Antarctic expedition to ascend Vinson Massif in January 2022.
Over 200 people attended the meeting, including students, staff, school, and alumni of the School of Geology, Geography, Recreation, and Tourism. Guests also included representatives from other schools of Karazin University, as well as students and educators from secondary and extracurricular educational institutions.
During the meeting, Valentin shared how his higher geographical education from Karazin University has assisted him in his career, providing interesting physico-geographical information, and shared impressions from his ascents.
