Professor of the Solid State Physics Department of the School of Physics, Yevhen Badiyan, Celebrates his Anniversary: the University Extends its Congratulations
On May 30, 2024, Yevhen Yukhymovych Badiyan, Professor of the Solid State Physics Department of the School of Physics and Distinguished Teacher of the University, celebrates his 85th birthday.
His entire life has been connected with Karazin University. He has risen from a student to a Distinguished Teacher and Professor at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. All these years, Yevhen Yukhymovych has devotedly and diligently served the noble cause of university education and science.
Under his guidance, more than 150 graduates of the School of Physics defended their bachelor's and master's theses, and six doctoral students successfully defended their candidate dissertations. Students, pupils, colleagues, and friends acknowledge his dedicated attitude towards his profession as a teacher, scientist, educator, inspirer, and mentor for many generations of students!
Yevhen Yukhymovych's scientific activity is multifaceted. His scientific interests include the physics of strength and plasticity of crystalline bodies, the relationship between structural changes and relaxation processes during plastic deformation of crystalline bodies over a wide temperature range, and X-ray structural studies. For many years, he has been involved in the problem of the stability of reflective coatings for laser technology, the impact of space factors on the properties of polymer materials, and the study of properties of strengthening coatings.
He is the author of many scientific developments, including: a method for modeling the atomic structure of grain boundaries; a method for studying orientation changes in crystalline materials during plastic deformation using computer technologies; a method for vacuum hardening of steel; and methods for X-ray studies of substructural characteristics in crystalline samples, among others. In these areas of scientific research, he has achieved many significant scientific results.
Yevhen Badiyan is the author of the monograph "Practical Crystallography," and co-author of over 200 scientific publications, including 18 patents and authorship certificates for inventions. For his personal achievements in science and innovation, he has been awarded numerous honors of various levels.
An experienced, knowledgeable, and highly qualified teacher and renowned scientist, Yevhen Badiyan is a distinguished lecturer who is respected and loved by students and holds a well-deserved reputation among the faculty and staff of both the Achool of Physics and the entire university.
