6 november 2022 year

On February 24, our life was divided into "before" and "after". On this day, russia launched a full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine.

During the 8 months of the war, we experienced a lot. Everyone with a feeling of severe pain in the chest can tell their story of the struggle for life: about an abandoned home, endless hours in a bomb shelter, a scarred hometown or the death of a loved one...

The multi-thousand-strong Karazin community is no exception. University buildings were damaged by enemy shelling. People, who are his heart and soul, remained unbreakable. The university continues to work and provide professional training, public and patriotic education of young people. However, war imposes its limitations and risks, which significantly complicate this activity.

The war continues, but we believe in our Victory and are already thinking about our future. After all, we understand that it is education that will become the foundation of post-war development and further prosperity. And we are taking the first steps for this.

In particular, on November 3, a presentation of the Kharkiv Karazin University Foundation was held, the purpose of which is to support the university and its community in difficult war and post-war times.

The event was attended by the head of the Kharkiv military-civilian administration Oleg Synegubov, the mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov, the administration of the Karazin University, members of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, guests also joined the presentation in online format.

The task for today is to preserve and multiply what we can," he said.

"Karazin University is a brand of the city of Kharkiv. The university should occupy a fundamental place in the ideal Kharkiv of the future. After all, these are young people, science, the preservation of traditions and a whole constellation of professors and teachers, which, fortunately, managed to be preserved. I am sure that thanks to our joint efforts, the name of Karazin University and our city of Kharkiv will be heard throughout the world," noted Ihor Terekhov.

"It is important to talk about the future of the university, about the future of education today," emphasized poet, writer, volunteer Serhii Zhadan. — Because Kharkiv is a student city. Karazin University at one time gave Kharkiv a strong push for development, and right now it is important to restart it and not let it lose its positions."

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, academician Vil Bakirov, presented the activities of the Foundation and the members of the Board of Trustees. The Executive Director of the Foundation, Serhii Makhnovskyi, presented the main areas of the Foundation's work: helping members of Karazin community who need help, creating safe spaces, including shelters, digitalization of the university, support for the development of physics and astronomy.
