A representative of Karazin University participated in the International Summer School in Moldova.
From June 25th to July 4th, 2023, Olga Vovk, the deputy director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local Studies named after Academician P. T. Tronko at Karazin University, took part in the third International Summer School on Borderland Studies in Central-Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region, held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
The event was organized by the Center for the Study of Interethnic Relations in Eastern Europe (Ukraine) in collaboration with the Center for Governance and Culture in Europe at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). Financial support was provided by the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada).
Over 100 applications were received to participate in this year's school, and 15 participants were selected. They represented Ukraine, Albania, the United Kingdom, Armenia, Georgia, Denmark, China, Germany, the United States, France, and the Czech Republic. The participants not only attended lectures by leading experts on intercultural communication issues and presented the results of their own research but also conducted several field trips, during which they explored the peculiarities of the material and spiritual culture of the Bulgarian and Gagauz national minorities in Moldova.
Olga Vovk presented a report entitled "Cultural and Artistic Life of the Front-Line Ukrainian City during the Russian-Ukrainian War (the Case of Kharkiv)". In her presentation, she emphasized the events of the cultural and artistic life in Kharkiv and Karazin University from March to October 2022, which demonstrated the resilience and desire for victory of our fellow citizens. She also called on the participants to continue providing assistance to Ukraine and Karazin University, particularly through the Kharkiv Karazin University Foundation.
Additionally, Olga Vovk acquainted herself with the work of the National Library, the National Archives Agency, the National Museum of History, the National Museum of Fine Arts, and the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History of the Republic of Moldova.
