Outstanding Physicist and Professor of the School of Physics and Technology Volodymyr Mykhailenko Passes Away: The Karazin Community Extends Its Condolences

On 13 August 2026, at the age of 80, Volodymyr Stepanovych Mykhailenko, an outstanding Ukrainian theoretical physicist, plasma physics specialist, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, and laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2005, “For Collective Mechanisms of Plasma Heating and Transport in Toroidal Magnetic Traps”), passed away.

Since 1989, Volodymyr Stepanovych had taught at the Department of Theoretical Nuclear Physics of the Education and Research Institute «School of Physics and Technology».

The bright memory of Volodymyr Stepanovych will forever remain in the hearts of his colleagues, students, and the entire academic community.
