Karazin University Graduate, Founder, and Head of the "Interfax-Ukraine" agency, Olexander Martynenko, has Passed away
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olexander Martynenko, a graduate of the School of Economics and the founder and Head of the "Interfax-Ukraine" agency. This is a significant loss not only for the journalistic community but also for the entire nation of Ukraine.
Olexander Martynenko was born on August 22, 1960, in Kharkiv. He graduated from the School of Economics of Karazin University. He began his career in 1987 as a junior research fellow at the Department of National Economic Planning of the university. He later worked as a correspondent and editor of the "Orientir DIP" newspaper, and in 1992, he became the editor-in-chief of the "Kharkiv-News" agency.
In 1992, Olexander Martynenko founded and headed the "Interfax-Ukraine" agency. His contribution to the development of Ukrainian journalism is substantial. For his professional achievements, he was awarded numerous honors, including the Order of Merit, Third Class, and the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, Fifth Class. In 2010, he was granted the title of Honored Journalist of Ukraine.
