On January 16, 2026, the School of Philology suffered an irreparable loss — Oleksandra Dmytrivna Rozhyna passed away. She was a PhD of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the History of Foreign Literature and Classical Philology, an outstanding lecturer in the history of world literature, a dedicated educator, a scholar, and a person of high culture and deep spirituality.
The entire professional life of Oleksandra Dmytrivna Rozhyna was inseparably connected with V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. She taught courses in the history of foreign literature, shaping generations of philologists for whom literature was not merely an academic discipline, but a way of thinking and a moral compass. Her lectures were distinguished by depth of analysis, intellectual refinement, and a sincere love for the written word.
Oleksandra Dmytrivna Rozhyna was not only a highly professional lecturer, but also a caring mentor who knew how to support, advise, and inspire.
