On November 29, members of the Ukrainian scouting organization "Plast" organized an Andriyivsky Evening at the university for all those interested!

Traditionally, on the holiday of St. Andrew, Ukrainians held special festive evening gatherings. As the author of the Plast portal writes: "St. Andrew's Day is one of those holidays where Christianity and paganism intertwine, and thus the second name of this holiday is Kalita. It is also the name of a ritual bread baked on this day, shaped like a circle — a symbol of the sun and infinity."

Every year, Plast members organize Andriyivsky Evenings, and this year the event took place at Karazin University. All those present discussed the tradition of evening gatherings, learned traditional Ukrainian dances, sang songs, tried fortune-telling, and enjoyed the traditional kalita.

Karazin University nurtures Ukrainian customs and traditions, and holding festive evenings allows young people to learn more about our past, study our history, and honor cultural heritage.
