International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action
Today is the International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. It aims to raise awareness about the threat posed by explosive hazards to the health and lives of people.
In Ukraine, the issue of mine danger is extremely relevant. Due to Russian aggression, a significant part of our country is contaminated with explosive hazards. This problem jeopardizes the lives and health of the local population, especially children and youth, who often become victims of unexploded ordnance.
On this day, we call on everyone to join in promoting knowledge about mine danger and the importance of correct reactions when encountering suspicious objects. The Ministry of Reintegration reminds of the basic rules to protect yourself and your loved ones from explosive hazards:
- Do not approach suspicious objects and never touch them with your hands.
- Refrain from visiting forests, fields, forest belts, and areas where combat operations took place.
- Walk only on familiar and verified routes.
