International Scientific Conference ''Modern Approaches to the Rehabilitation and Readaptation of Servicemen, Veterans, and Their Families"

At Karazin University, the First International Scientific and Practical Conference titled "Modern Approaches to the Rehabilitation and Readaptation of Servicemen, Veterans, and Their Families" was held.

The event began with a plenary session. Opening remarks were delivered by Vice-Rector Borys Samorodov, Director of the Education and Research Institute "Institute of Public Administration" Liudmyla Bielova, and Head of the Psychological Recovery Department of Operational Command "North," Colonel Oleksandr Vasyilkovskyi of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In an online format, the Commander of the Operational Command "North" of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Dmytro Krasylnikov, addressed the participants:
"I am confident that the outcomes of this conference will be pivotal in solving the issues of rehabilitation and readaptation and will contribute to our victory. Today's war is a war of resources, and the most valuable resource we have is our people. The work of restoring individuals is a key factor in achieving victory over the enemy."

As part of the conference, Karazin volunteers were awarded badges of honor for "Conscientious Service" and commendations from the Commander of the Operational Command "North" of the Ground Forces of Ukraine. One of the honored volunteers, Viktor Kovtun, an Honorary Doctor of Karazin University and a Ukrainian artist, presented portraits of Ukrainian Heroes and handed them over to Oleksandr Vasyilkovskyi.

The participants were also greeted by international guests, including the Head of the "New Standard for Ukraine" platform and Financial Director of the International Charity Organization "Rutenia," Ivanna Tlumatska, and volunteers from Sweden, Marina Crawford and Hans Berring.

The conference continued with thematic group sessions in the following areas:

  1. Organizational and managerial aspects of implementing public policies on the rehabilitation and readaptation of servicemen, veterans, and their families.
  2. Issues of legal and regulatory frameworks for the rehabilitation and readaptation of servicemen and war veterans.
  3. Aspects of rehabilitative medicine in restoring servicemen, veterans, and their families.
  4. Psychological assistance and support for servicemen and veterans. Mental health of the families of the fallen and their children.
  5. Social rehabilitation and reintegration of servicemen, veterans, and individuals affected by military aggression into society.
  6. International experience in the rehabilitation of combatants and veterans: best practices for Ukraine.

The conference concluded successfully, providing participants with a wealth of valuable information they are ready to apply in their work. It is certain that this socially significant conference will continue in the future.
