International Scientific and Practical Conference "Historical and Cultural Phenomenon of the Ukrainian Economic Academy in Podyebrady"
On November 25, 2022, the international scientific and practical conference "Historical and cultural phenomenon of the Ukrainian Economic Academy in Podyebrady" was held in online format.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic, the public organization "Ukrainian Memorial" in the Czech Republic, the Institute of East European Studies of Charles University in Prague, the Czech Association of Ukrainianists, the Institute of Diaspora Studies (Kyiv), the historical club "Holodny Yar", the Department of Tourism Business and Local Studies Faculty of International Economic Relations and Tourism Business.
The initiator and moderator of the scientific conference was associate professor of the Department of Tourism Business and Local Studies, Faculty of International Economic Relations and Tourism Business Natalya Aksyonova.
The conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Ukrainian Economic Academy in Podyebrady, an institution that trained a large number of highly educated specialists who later worked in the Czech Republic and other European countries. The participants of the conference analyzed and discussed the legacy of prominent figures of culture, education and science of Ukraine in general and representatives of Kharkiv University in particular, who emigrated to Czechoslovakia after the liberation struggle and were able to create the Ukrainian Academy of Economics.
At the plenary session, reports were heard, including about the history of the establishment, stages of development and activities of the Ukrainian Academy of Economics in Podebrady, places of memory of Ukrainian diplomacy in the Czech Republic, the Prague archive of Ukrainian emigration of the interwar period as a phenomenon of national culture, science, history and archival science, and others.
