Karazin Representatives Participated in the International Colloquium on Risk and Crisis Management in Sweden (Östersund)

From November 18 to 22, 2024, representatives of Karazin University participated in the International Colloquium "Risk and Crisis Management for a Safe Ukraine." The event took place at the School of Sociology of Mid Sweden University (Östersund, Sweden) and marked the final stage of the Ukrainian-Swedish project "SAFE Ukraine," implemented since 2022.

The colloquium participants included faculty members, staff, postgraduate students, and students of the School of Sociology, such as Iryna Kuzina, Alina Kalashnikova, Maryna Lytovchenko, Sofiia Nolbat, Nadiia Holovinova, Anastasiia Soshenko, and Anastasiia Yemelianova, as well as Victoria Kryzhanivska, Deputy Director of the Public Relations Center.

During the colloquium, the Karazin team also took part in the Försvars Forum (Defense Forum), where they presented to Jämtland Governor Marita Ljung, representatives of the Community Defense Association, and the Östersund City Council. In their report, they highlighted the resilience of Kharkiv and Karazin University during the war, emphasizing the specifics of organizing the educational process, student enrollment under wartime conditions, the opening of safe spaces through the activities of the Kharkiv Karazin University Foundation, as well as the implementation of security measures and recovery steps.

At the colloquium, Ukrainian participants shared their experiences of the first days of the war in Kharkiv and provided Swedish youth with recommendations for preparing for crisis situations.

In addition, Karazin representatives joined the development and testing of an interactive game designed to prepare for crises and foster community connections.

The trip was an important step in strengthening partnership relations, exchanging experiences, and creating new opportunities for further cooperation in the field of risk and crisis management.
