Karazin Winter Charity Evening: The University Raised 407,000 UAH for the 113th Brigade, 120th Battalion
On January 14, the Karazin community gathered in the safe space of the Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.V. Lysenko to host a winter charity evening. The event aimed to raise 220,000 UAH to repair an ambulance for the 113th Brigade, 120th Battalion. This unit was where Yehor Shumaiev, a student from the School of Geology, Geography, Recreation, and Tourism who tragically lost his life, had served. Currently, students and alumni of our university continue to serve in this battalion.
The charity evening was organized by the University Student Council in partnership with the “Volunteer Foundation,” the university administration, faculty deans, institute directors, and all those who contributed to the fundraising effort. Together, we raised 407,000 UAH — nearly double the planned amount!
"Today, the Karazin Winter Charity Evening symbolizes unity and solidarity. It’s an example of how we can contribute to a significant cause, how we can help those who defend our country, fight for our freedom and independence, and allow us to live," noted the university’s rector, Tetyana Kaganovska.
"Our goal was to raise 220,000 UAH by the university’s anniversary. But we exceeded expectations and collected 407,000 UAH! A heartfelt thank you to each of you. No matter how far apart we are physically, the Karazin community remains strong. Together, we can make history," proclaimed Sofia Panasiuk, head of the University Student Council.
The charity evening was filled with magical performances by students from various faculties and institutes, including traditional waltz and contemporary dance, pieces by the university orchestra "Karazin Orchestra," and a ballroom number performed by graduates of the School of Sociology, Danyil Friziuk and Arina Krasnova.
We extend our gratitude to everyone who helped achieve and surpass our goal! Special thanks to the evening’s organizers and partners, who made this charitable endeavor possible.
