On June 11-17, Marharyta Moroz, a specialist of the Public Relations Center and a student of the Department of Journalism of the School of Philology, took part in the International Summer School of Science Communication.
International summer schools are organized by the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland) and funded by the National Center for Research and Development of Poland (NCBR).
The school was attended by specialists from 26 higher education institutions from all over Ukraine, which allowed them to learn from each other, communicate, and establish connections not only with Polish colleagues but also between Ukrainian scientists.
During the 11th Summer School, the topic of which was scientific communication, the lecturers talked about ways to popularize science and research, including the example of Adam Mickiewicz University and the University of Freiburg (Germany).
Among the areas of science and communication development, the experience of the European consortium of universities EPICUR, the Festival of Science and Arts in Poznan, and oral history were discussed as examples of the implementation of scientific communication. The topics of the classes also included the creation of podcasts and documentaries, bilingualism, festivals, and other activities for learning English at AMU.
The practical implementation of the acquired knowledge was the creation of a science communication project for different social and age groups.
In addition to the educational part, the program included activities that allowed participants to share experiences, have interesting discussions, and find commonalities in the organization of the scientific process of various Ukrainian universities. These included Nordic walking, evening gatherings around the campfire, and a tour of the historic center of Poznan.
The school participants also presented the organizers with books by Ukrainian writers and scholars that will be donated to the city library for several thousand registered Ukrainian citizens and the AMU library.
The summer school culminated with a visit to the video and audio recording studio of Adam Mickiewicz University, where participants gained an unforgettable experience and practiced their skills as podcasters.
Upon completion of the training, each participant received relevant certificates, useful experience and knowledge that will help develop Ukrainian science and promote scientific research at the global level.
We are sincerely grateful to Adam Mickiewicz University for such support and knowledge, for organizing the International Summer School of Science Communication!
