Karazin University Participated in the International Summer School "Cultural and Scientific Promotion of the University"
The Deputy Director of the Public Relations and a researcher at the Institute of Applied Sociology and Social Communications of the School of Sociology, Victoria Kryzhanivska, participated in the International Summer School "Cultural and Scientific Promotion of the University."
The Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, has been organizing these international summer schools for Ukrainian higher education institutions since February 2023, with funding from the National Center for Research and Development of Poland (NCBR). The school brought together experts from 26 universities across Ukraine, allowing for the exchange of experiences, communication, and learning about the cases of university promotion, both from Polish and Ukrainian colleagues.
Within the framework of the summer school, with the theme of cultural and scientific university promotion, lecturers discussed the importance of university rankings and work in that direction, using Adam Mickiewicz University as an example. They also presented the positioning and promotion of the university (the colorful university concept, the open university concept, the university of the III age).
The instructors showcased the activities of the EPICUR Consortium and Welcome Centre Section, discussed marketing and student recruitment, the science and arts festival "Nayki i shtyki," and the peculiarities of managing the university's social media. A workshop was conducted where participants proposed various ideas to implement in the Welcome Center to attract and adapt Ukrainians. Participants shared their experiences of working at universities during times of conflict, as well as their experiences with promotion and student recruitment.
In addition to the educational program, the agenda included events that allowed participants to exchange experiences, engage in interesting discussions, and find common ground in promoting and positioning various higher education institutions in Ukraine. These included evening gatherings around the campfire, a tour of the historical center of Poznań, and an evening of Ukrainian cuisine. Participants of the school presented books by Ukrainian writers and scholars as gifts to the organizers, which will be donated to the city library for several thousand registered Ukrainian citizens and to the library of the Adam Mickiewicz University.
After completing the training, each participant received a certificate, valuable experience, and knowledge that will help strengthen the existing practices of cultural and scientific promotion at Ukrainian universities. We are sincerely grateful to Adam Mickiewicz University for their support, knowledge, and for organizing the International Summer School "Cultural and Scientific Promotion of the University"!
