Karazin University Supports Teachers of Various Categories from Gymnasiums and Lyceums

On October 17, 2024, Karazin University welcomed a motivated group of teachers from various subjects for professional development courses. The participants included teachers from gymnasiums and lyceums across five districts of Kharkiv, two city councils, one village council in three rural districts of Kharkiv region, as well as representatives from a college and a vocational-technical education institution in Kharkiv, and relocated educational institutions from Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk region.

The practical, laboratory, training, and lecture sessions at the Pedagogical Continuing Education Center will be delivered by academic staff and practitioners from the departments of Ukrainian Language, History of Ukrainian Literature of the School of Philology, departments of Applied Mathematics, Fundamental Mathematics of the School of Mathematics and Informatics, departments of Experimental Physics, Astronomy, and Space Informatics of the School of Physics, as well as the P. T. Tronko Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local Lore at the University. Permanent external partners, such as practitioner lecturers from the municipal institutions "Kharkiv Lyceum No. 28," "Kharkiv Gymnasium No. 77," "Kharkiv Inclusive Resource Center No. 1" of Kharkiv City Council, and the municipal institution "Kharkiv Humanities and Pedagogical Academy" of the Kharkiv Regional Council, are also involved.

The educational process for teachers aims to modernize their professional and teaching competencies, with a special focus on the specifics of ensuring the educational process for students in grades 5, 6, and 7 in basic secondary education, following the new model programs of the "New Ukrainian School" in a distance learning format. It will also emphasize formative assessment of students' academic achievements and the development of subject competencies.

Special attention is given to helping participants effectively prepare their students for the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT) in 2025.

The inaugural session with the course participants was conducted by the Director of the Pedagogical Continuing Education Center, Mykhailo Tatarynov. He reviewed the regulatory and organizational aspects of the professional development courses, provided instructions on life and health safety requirements during martial law, and introduced the schedule specifics.

The educational process for teachers will continue until November 4, 2024.
