Day of employees of archival institutions: the university congratulates

On December 24, a professional holiday is celebrated in Ukraine by employees of archival institutions according to the Presidential Decree of October 30, 1998.

Archivists perform an important task for society. They carefully preserve and take care of the historical memory of the Ukrainian people, provide an inextricable link between the past, present and future.

The Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archeology operates at the Faculty of History at Karazin University, which trains specialists in the "Archival Science" specialty and offers students a high level of professional training. There is also a university archive in Karazin University, where, in particular, personal files of employees of past years are kept.

Archives are a huge information resource of invaluable historical, scientific and cultural importance. Unfortunately, archival materials also suffered from the cynical actions of the russian invaders, who destroyed them or took them out of the temporarily occupied territories. This only proves that russians cannot create their own history, do not have their own cultural heritage, but they must not destroy the historical memory, national consciousness and identity that exist in every Ukrainian.

Thanks to our unity, joint work, daily hard work of Ukrainian archivists, we will save, restore and return the documentary treasury of our people, so that present and future generations will be able to touch the pages of our common history.
