Europe Day: the University Celebrates
Today we are celebrating Europe Day for the second time together with the European Union and other countries, precisely on May 9th. This holiday aims to strengthen the unity of the peoples of Europe, express our commitment to the ideals and values of democracy, and call for ensuring peace, security, and stability on the European continent.
For the countries of the European Union, this day is special because it was on May 9th, 1950, that France proposed the creation of a new union of European nations to prevent future wars and promote common development. In his declaration, the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman emphasized that economic cooperation is not only a way to raise living standards but also the first step towards the unification of Europe.
For Ukraine, this day is primarily about unity, mutual support, and respect. We are fighting for our freedom and integrity, ensuring the existence of European civilization in safety. This day is a reminder that together we can achieve our goals. May our unity be strong, and European values be an inseparable part of our common future!
