Kickoff Meeting within the NURECAB Project ("EU-UA Nuclear Research and Education Capacity Building")

On September 5-6, 2024, the first meeting of the NURECAB project ("EU-UA Nuclear Research and Education Capacity Building", GA# 101173510) took place in Kyiv.

This event officially marked the start of the project's implementation within the EURATOM Work Programme for 2023–2025.

The event was attended by representatives from the European Commission under the EURATOM Programme, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine, the European Nuclear Society, the European Nuclear Education Network, the Joint-Stock Company "NAEK Energoatom," as well as leading Ukrainian universities and research centers.

Anton Panteleymonov, Vice-Rector of Karazin University, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants, and the project work was continued by the project manager, Director of the Education and Scientific Institute of the "School of Physics and Technology" Philip Kuznetsov, and project participant, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Physics and Plasma Physics, Inna Afanasieva.

On September 5, during the public part of the event, representatives of the coordinator and partners of the NURECAB consortium presented the project implementation plan.

The plan includes various activities to support nuclear education in Ukraine and integrate the Ukrainian scientific community into the EURATOM Research and Training Programme.

The project partners also focused on internal discussions dedicated to working on individual work packages (WP1, WP2, WP3, WP4, WP5) of the project.

On September 6, a meeting of the WP6 working group was held, where administrative issues of the project were discussed.

As a result of the kickoff meeting, actions were developed to implement the plans and achieve the goals of the first year of the NURECAB project.
