Jean Monnet Actions in the Field of Higher Education

Jean Monnet: Jean Monnet Modules.

In recent years, several important international educational projects have been implemented at Karazin University Law School. These include:

— Jean Monnet Module "European Standards of Local Self-Government and EU Regional Policy" 2019-2022 (project number 611631-EPP-1-2019-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE. Grant agreement 2019-1872/001-001). The project resulted in the introduction of a relevant training course in the educational process, taught by leading experts from Ukraine and EU member states; preparation of scientific articles, educational and teaching materials; holding a number of scientific and practical conferences and roundtables on regional policy in the EU and constitutional reform on decentralisation of power in Ukraine, taking into account European standards of local self-government. Sabrina Ragone, Professor at the University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy) and Giovanni Boggero, Professor at the University of Turin (Turin, Italy) participated in the project implementation.

— Jean Monnet module "Criminal policy of the European Union" 2019-2022 (project number 611432-EPP-1-2019-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE). The project resulted in the introduction of a relevant training course in the educational process; preparation of scientific articles, educational and teaching materials; holding a number of scientific and practical conferences and round tables on topical issues of improving the criminal legislation of Ukraine, taking into account the specifics of criminal policy and combating crime in the EU.

Today, two more educational projects are being implemented at Karazin University Law School:

— Jean Monnet Module "EU Constitutional Law" / "EU Constitutional Law". Term of implementation: 2022-2025 (project number 01047498-UU-Const-ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH. Grant Agreement No. 01047498-UU-Const). The project includes the introduction of a relevant course in the educational process, taught by leading domestic and foreign constitutionalists; preparation of scientific articles, educational and methodological materials; a number of scientific and practical conferences and roundtables on topical issues of EU constitutionalisation and the continuation of constitutional reform in Ukraine, taking into account the basic values of European constitutionalism. The project is implemented by Professor Matthias Hartwig, Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public and International Law (Heidelberg, Germany), Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Latvia (Riga, Latvia), Associate Professor Iveta Reinholde, and Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Genoa (Genoa, Italy) Enrico Albanesi.

— Jean Monnet module "EU Contract Law". Term of implementation: 2023-2026 (project number 101127494 - EU-Contract - ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH). The project includes the introduction of a relevant training course in the educational process, taught by leading Ukrainian and foreign civil lawyers; preparation of scientific articles, educational and teaching materials; a number of scientific and practical conferences and roundtables on the current state of EU contract law and the use of positive EU experience in this area to improve legislation and contractual practice in Ukraine. The project is implemented by Dana Rone, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Law, Turiba University (Riga, Latvia), and Inese Druviete, Associate Professor of the Riga University School of Law (Riga, Latvia).
