International business in conditions of global fragmentation
Scientists have noticed for some time ago that international integration is a two-way process. On the one hand, it provides removing of restrictions in the interaction of a group of countries, and on the other hand, it forms restrictions for those countries that do not participate in this association.
According to International Monetary Fund in a shock-prone world, economies must be more resilient-individually and collectively. Cooperation is critical, but greater protectionism could lead to fragmentation, and even split nations into rival blocs just as fresh shocks expose the global economy's fragility.
While estimates of the cost of fragmentation vary, greater international trade restrictions could reduce global economic output.
The aim of our research is to identify the role of international business in circumstances of global fragmentation increasing.
The topic of our previous research was «International business and international finance in the modern system of international economic relations»
The aim was to identify the transformations taking place in international business and international finance in the modern system of international economic relations, to formulate on this basis theoretical and methodological provisions and practical recommendations for transforming the institutional component of national economies in order to effectively involve them in the modern system of international economic relations.
During this research, we considered such scientific problems:
- studying the role of international economic integration;
- development of the concept of life level of the population under the influence of international business;
- analysis of the place of e-commerce and IT in international business and financial systems;
- disclosure of international business taxation problems and development of ways to solve them;
- research on transformations of the world financial system:
- Identification of institutional aspects of national economies (including the economy of Ukraine) that require changes in view of modern world trends.
Our Department of International Business and Economic Theory has been organizing the annual scientific conference «Modern Transformations of International Business» for 6 years now (https://international-relations-tourism.karazin.ua/research/conference-materials/economteor-cm.html).
The department has a scientific student workshop «International marketing and finance».
Teachers and students take part international and local trainings.
Students are actively involved in scientific work. Many of our students have several scientific publications by the end of their studies.
We would like to work with foreign universities on the development of our international strategy and activities. For this, we would like to develop the following projects:
- dual degree programs
- training programs for teachers
- digitization of educational courses
- student academic mobility
- lectures by guest professors
- improving of our "International business" education program
