Global Mapping of Soil Fungi

Together with SPUN, Human Frontiers Science Program, GlobalFungi, Global Soil Mycobiome Consortium, the Crowther Lab, and researchers,we are building a global database of mycorrhizal diversity. This will allow us to quantify biodiversity hot-spots and identify underground ecosystems of high conservation priority.

Using thousands of field soil samples, coupled with hundreds of layers of global environmental data, we use machine learning to predict the distribution of soil fungi network biodiversity across the planet.

Supported by the scholarship from Human Frontiers Science Program, Oleh Prylutskyi, the project leader, launched and manage the very first metabarcoding soil fungi research in Ukraine. More than 40 Ukrainian researchers involved.
