A New Exhibition by Hamlet Zinkivskyi, “Time Is Not Needed,” Opens at YermilovCentre
On January 24, the YermilovCentre of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University hosted the opening of “Time Is Not Needed,” an exhibition by the renowned Kharkiv-based artist and illustrator Hamlet Zinkivskyi. The project continues his diary-style “365 Series” and represents a new stage in the artist’s reflections on time, personal experience, and the inner state of an individual amid profound social transformations.
“And about myself, I have nothing to say…” — this is how the artist defined the concept of the exhibition, while deliberately leaving it open to interpretation. The presented works address themes of existential search, doubt, and a sense of determinism that accompany modern individuals in the reality of war and uncertainty. In his paintings, the artist reflects on his travels across European countries, the external changes in the life of Kharkiv, and the internal changes experienced by its residents.
“Time Is Not Needed” holds particular significance for the Kharkiv community — a city that continues to live and resist under constant challenges. Such artistic projects become spaces for collective reflection and the rediscovery of inner support. Here, art fulfills not only an aesthetic role but also a social mission, helping to preserve a sense of unity and affirm the value of the human voice in times of threat and uncertainty.
The exhibition opening was held without an official ceremony, allowing visitors to engage deeply with the meanings of the works and creating an opportunity for personal interaction with Mr. Zinkivskyi.
The exhibition will be on display at the YermilovCentre until March 15.
The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 12:00 to 19:00.
