Ukrainian writer and poet, public activist, Honorary Doctor of Karazin University Serhiy Zhadan was awarded the medal "For the defense of the hero city of Kharkiv".

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of russia, Serhiy, despite the constant shelling of Kharkiv, remains in the city and raises the fighting spirit of Kharkiv residents.

He actively volunteers: he visits the wounded in the hospital, supports the people of Kharkiv by organizing cultural events, helps the military on various issues, performs at concerts to raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces.
