From October 28 to November 1, 2024, representatives of Karazin University participated in a study visit to Uppsala, Sweden, as part of the CAFU project – "Competence Assistance for Ukraine." This project is being implemented by the university's School of Sociology in collaboration with Folkuniversitetet and the Sustainability InnoCenter at Uppsala University, with financial support from the Swedish Institute. The purpose of the trip was to familiarize participants with best practices in sustainable development in Sweden.
The study visit program included intensive lectures on sustainable development, project management, and the development of key competencies. Participants also visited leading institutions and organizations in Uppsala and Stockholm.
One of the key locations was the innovation center at Uppsala University, where participants learned about the Sustainable Development Forum – a platform for discussing ideas and projects related to ecological activities and sustainability. They also visited Campus 1477, a modern sports center promoting healthy lifestyles.
Special attention was given to a visit to the Ulvstuna Green Innovation Park, focusing on ecology, nature conservation, agriculture, and urban studies. Participants also toured the Saxon Museum, the oldest open-air museum in the world, showcasing everyday life, traditions, and principles of rational spatial use in Sweden.
The program concluded with an innovation lab at Uppsala Kommun, where participants, together with representatives from the community, business, and academia, worked on joint solutions for sustainable development in Uppsala.
This visit provided valuable experience for participants, contributing to the implementation of new knowledge and sustainable practices in Ukraine. The CAFU project continues to expand opportunities for knowledge exchange and the development of competencies necessary to achieve a sustainable future.
