The auditorium of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism is named in honor of the fallen student Yehor Shumaev, who volunteered to go to the front

On December 23, 2022, at a meeting of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism, a decision was unanimously adopted "On the assignment of auditorium No. 5-66 of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism of Karazin Kharkiv National University to be named after Yehor Shumaev."

Yehor Shumaev studied on the 3rd year of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism of Karazin University. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to defend Kharkiv in the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces, later defended Donbas as part of the Armed Forces.

On December 14, 2022, Yehor died after a serious injury, which turned out to be incompatible with life...

The university community will always remember Yehor as a responsible, decent, cheerful and smiling guy, a loyal friend and a good organizer. He is a true patriot of Ukraine, his memory will live not only in our hearts, but also in the walls of Karazin University.
