Research Focus of the Department
The scientific activities of the Department of Socio-Economic Geography and Regional Studies named after Kostiantyn Niemets are centered on theoretical and applied aspects of human geography, aimed at addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges in response to contemporary social demands. Research directions include:

Spatial analysis, modeling, forecasting, and monitoring of socio-economic development across various territorial levels (regions, districts, urban and rural settlements, neighborhoods, and city blocks);

Territorial restoration, sustainable regional and urban development, spatial planning, management, and strategic development under conditions of uncertainty;

Urban, economic, social, migration, and demographic systems and processes, and their regional models;

Urban and regional studies;

Tourist and recreational potential of territories and its practical application;

Geodemographic and geomarketing research of territories of different hierarchical levels;

Application of GIS in education, research, and practice.
