Department of Mathematical Methods in Economics

The Department of Mathematical Methods in Economics of the Institute of Economics and International Relations at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was established on 1 September 2008.

The department specializes in such scientific fields as higher mathematics, probability theory and mathematical statistics, informatics, and computer technologies.

The department’s academic staff effectively combines specialists with a strong fundamental background in mathematics and high qualifications in economic and mathematical modelling, information technologies, and programming, which enables students to acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills.

The department is headed by Zaryf Fyatikhovych Nazyrov, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, member of the Academic Council of the School of Economics and the University Academic Council, and Director of the Center for International Education.
Currently, the department employs 17 academic staff members, a Category I Methodologist, and a Category I Engineer.

The department conducts extensive research in the following areas: financial mathematics, mathematical modelling of stock prices, modelling and forecasting of economic processes, modelling of financial activities of enterprises, banks, and financial institutions, economic and mathematical modelling, and mathematical modelling of stochastic processes.

The department maintains active cooperation with leading higher education institutions of Ukraine, research organizations, enterprises, and institutions.
