Department of Economic Cybernetics and Applied Economics
The department specializes in training professionals with advanced knowledge in such fields as mathematical modelling, quantitative methods, and computer technologies.
In addition to the general economic education that students receive on par with other majors, this specialization significantly enhances the quality of preparation for working with financial, analytical, and numerical data. By obtaining a degree in economic and mathematical modelling, the department’s graduates considerably increase their chances of successful employment at enterprises, companies, and financial institutions, including banks, insurance companies, and investment funds.
The educational process is supported by a highly qualified team of scholars and university lecturers, combining expertise in mathematics, economic modelling, computer science, and programming.
The department includes 3 Doctors of Sciences (Professors), 7 Candidates of Sciences (Associate Professors), and 4 lecturers.
The department was among the first in Ukraine to launch training in the field of Economic Cybernetics.
Today, the department trains specialists in two fields: Economic Cybernetics (Bachelor’s and Master’s levels) and the Master’s programme in Applied Economics.
Students majoring in Economic Cybernetics acquire fundamental knowledge in mathematics, economics, and modelling. This strong academic foundation enables them to work effectively across various sectors: banking, industrial enterprises, insurance and investment companies, as well as public and private institutions.
Master’s students in Applied Economics are prepared for socio-economic, managerial, analytical, research, and teaching activities related to applied problems in economic management. This Master’s programme admits graduates of various Bachelor’s specialities.
The department actively cooperates with educational institutions in Ukraine and Europe, including:
Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Donetsk National University, the University of Sunderland (UK), the University of Macedonia (Greece), and Aristotle University (Greece).
