The University

Based on the results of the annual QS World University Rankings 2024, which ranks the world’s best higher education institutions, Karazin University holds the 781–790 position globally, making it the leading Ukrainian university in the QS global ranking over the past 10 years.

Scopus scientometric database ranking: 2nd place in Ukraine.

THE ranking for the highest number of international students: 194th globally, the only Ukrainian higher education institution included in the ranking.

Web of Universities: 2,868th position globally and 9th place among Ukrainian universities. Currently, the university includes 14 schools: Biology; Geology, Geography, Recreation and Travel Business; Economics; Foreign Languages; History; Mathematics and Computer Science; Medicine; School of Medicine II; Psychology; Radiophysics, Biomedical Electronics and Computer Systems; Physics; Philology; Law. It also includes 15 educational and research institutes: Bakhmut Education and Research Professional Pedagogical Institute; Institute of Continuing Education; Academy of Teaching; Institute of Public Administration; Karazin School of Business; Karazin Banking Institute; Institute of International Relations and Travel Business; Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogics Academy; School of Physics and Technology; Institute of Ecology, Green Energy and Sustainable Development; Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence; Institute of International Education; Institute of Sociology and Media Communications; Institute of Chemistry; Institute of Philosophy, Cultural Studies and Political Science. The Karazin University community includes more than 15,807 students, 241 international students from 25 countries, 899 PhD students, and 14 doctoral candidates. The university employs 3,156 staff members involved in research and training, including 71 scientists, 8 members and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 295 Doctors of Sciences and Professors, 956 Candidates of Sciences and Associate Professors, and 1 member of the California Academy of Sciences.

Overall, the university community includes more than 180,000 alumni. Training at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is provided in 115 specialties and specializations, covering the full range of modern classical university education, including 275 educational programs: 111 bachelor’s programs, 129 master’s programs, and 35 PhD programs.

Special attention at Karazin University is paid to academic mobility. The university currently has 300 bilateral cooperation agreements with higher education institutions in 61 countries, including Austria, Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, France, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Finland, Croatia, Sweden, and others.

The university also has 22 international partners, including institutions in Austria, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, Finland, France, and the Czech Republic.
