Founded in 1972, the University History Museum is one of the first university museums in our city. It is a landmark of Kharkiv University. The exposition of the Museum will immerse you in an atmosphere of the University's past, and the Museum guides will lead you along the paths of our Alma Mater’s long and fascinating history. Every year, the Museum is visited by about 4,000 students, senior schoolchildren, participants of international and national conferences, Kharkiv residents and guests of the city.
Among the Museum’s guests are the leaders of the city and region, representatives of other educational institutions, foreign organizations and embassies of about 40 countries. Today, the Museum collections contain about 19,000 core exhibits, as well as 10,000 photo negatives that cover the history of Kharkiv University.
Every year, we offer our visitors 5-7 temporary exhibitions dedicated to Kharkiv University’s history, famous alumni and scientists, buildings and collections, academic and everyday life of the University corporation. In addition, together with Kharkiv archival and museum institutions, the Museum holds citywide exhibitions that display interesting pages from the past of Kharkiv region.
The Museum is an inspirer and organizer of oral history projects, creative performances; a platform for presenting publications on the history of the University.
