Biography

Education:

  • In 1987, she graduated with honors from Ivan Franko Lviv State University with a degree in Biochemistry and Teaching.

  • In 1993, she completed her studies at the Intersectoral Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel at Lviv Polytechnic State University, earning a qualification in Economics and Management.

  • She undertook internships at the University of Warsaw and Columbia University, focusing on issues related to education system reform.

  • In 2005, she defended her dissertation titled “Trends in the Decentralization of Basic Education Management in Modern Poland” and was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (Ph.D. equivalent) in the specialty 13.00.01 – General Pedagogy and History of Pedagogy.

Professional Experience:

  • From 1987 to 2006, she held various positions: biology teacher, Deputy Principal for National Education at Lviv Secondary School No. 7; Deputy Principal for Academic Affairs at Lviv Specialized School No. 53 with in-depth study of English; Principal of Lviv Specialized School No. 28 with in-depth study of German; Senior Lecturer at the Department of Management of the KROK Institute of Economics and Law; Director of the Center for Testing Technologies at the International Renaissance Foundation; Director of the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment.

  • 2006-2008 — Head of the Main Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration.

  • 2008-July 10, 2024 — Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs, Lecturer at the Institute of Leadership in Educational Legislation and Policy of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.

  • 2012–2016 — Member of the Parliament of Ukraine (7th–8th convocations), Chairperson of the Committee on Science and Education.

  • 2016–2019 — Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

  • Since 2023 — Member of the Attestation Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

  • Since July 11, 2024 — Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

Honors and Awards:

  • Badge of Honor “Excellence in Education of Ukraine”

  • Badge of Honor “Excellence in Capital City Education”

  • Honorary Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “For Services to the Ukrainian People”
