Department of Basic General Military Training, Physical Education and Sports

The Department of Basic General Military Training, Physical Education and Sports was established on September 1, 2025. Currently, the Department provides the educational process for the courses “Theoretical Training of Basic General Military Training” and “Physical Education.”

In the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, more than 850 higher education students — both male and female — were involved in studying the course “Theoretical Training of Basic General Military Training.” The educational process was delivered by 10 academic staff members, including Doctors and Candidates of Sciences, professors and associate professors, as well as veterans with military service experience.

Since the establishment of the University, the organizational structure and methods of physical education have undergone multiple changes. Since 1925, this work had been carried out by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, and starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, it has been continued by the Department of Basic General Military Training, Physical Education and Sports. The educational process is currently supported by 8 instructors, 4 of whom hold the title of Master of Sports.

Since the 2005–2006 academic year, a sports-oriented approach to physical education has been implemented. The physical education process is organized in a sectional format: students can choose to participate in groups based on specific sports (types of physical activity) according to their preferences. Currently, students can take part in athletics, fitness mix aerobics, tennis, basketball, volleyball, futsal, table tennis, and chess. These classes are optional and are conducted in a blended format (offline and online).
