Meeting with British and Canadian political scientist Taras Kuzio
On June 9, 2023, Karazin University hosted a meeting with a well-known British and Canadian political scientist with Ukrainian origins, Taras Kuzio.
Taras Kuzio was a Research Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations (CTR), School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, and a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Toronto. He has also held positions as a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Center for Slavic Studies at Hokkaido University in Japan and a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC.
Taras Kuzio is the author of a number of monographs, including "Putin's War against Ukraine. Revolution, Nationalism and Criminality" (2018), "Ukraine: Democratization, Corruption and the New Russian Imperialism" (2015), "Theoretical and Comparative Perspectives on Nationalism: New Directions in Cross-Cultural and Post-Communist Studies" (2007), etc.
During the meeting, students and professors discussed with the political scientist current socio-political issues, interpretations of narratives of Ukraine's history at different times, and talked about the alternative history of Russia's war against Ukraine. A meaningful and lively discussion took place with the participation of sociologists, political scientists, philosophers, and Karazin University historians.
