Meeting of Student Language Ombudsmen with Taras Kremen, the Authorized Representative for the Protection of the State Language
On October 19, the Authorized Representative for the Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremen, conducted an online meeting with the student language ombudsmen from 28 higher education institutions in Ukraine.
The meeting highlighted the urgent need for communication between university students. Tetyana Segeda, a student from the School of Philology at Karazin University and a representative for student affairs on the state language also joined the event.
During the event, there was a presentation on the structure and team of the Authorized Representative for the Protection of the State Language, a discussion of its functions, and a conversation about the format of future cooperation with Taras Kremen. The participating representatives got to know each other, discussed existing problems, achievements, and plans.
The meeting was moderated by Yaroslava Vitko-Prysyazhnyuk, an Authorized Representative for the Protection of the State Language.
They planned to implement certain steps, possible in-person meetings, internships, and the idea of creating a League of Language Ambassadors – individuals with a pro-state language stance ready to enhance control over compliance with language legislation. They also agreed on regular meetings and methods of quick communication.
