On May 26, the traditional meeting of the Academic Council of Karazin University took place.

At the beginning of the event, Rector Tetyana Kaganovska congratulated the university community on Science Day, expressed gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine for the opportunity to work and advance Ukrainian science in free Kharkiv, and presented Doctor of Philosophy diplomas to the graduates of the Education and Research Institute "Institute of Public Administration".

An official awards ceremony was held in honor of the 220th anniversary of the university’s founding and Science Day. The Rector presented honorary certificates and letters of gratitude from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for initiative and perseverance, high professionalism, diligent service, and significant personal contribution to the development of education and science in Ukraine. Honorees included:

  • Anna Chkheailo, Director of the Education and Research Institute "Karazin Banking Institute";

  • Lidiia Starodubtseva, Professor of the Department of Media Communications, School of Sociology;

  • Olha Hlushchenko, Head of the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance, School of Economics.

For impeccable work, high professionalism, conscientious performance of duties, and contribution to the development of education and science in Ukraine, and on the occasion of Science Day, the Badge of Honor "For Scientific and Educational Achievements", honorary diplomas, and gratitude from the Ministry were awarded to:

  • Serhii Lytovchenko, Dean of the School of History;

  • Serhii Lytovchenko, Professor of the Department of Reactor Materials and Physical Technologies, Education and Research Institute "School of Physics and Technology";

  • Denys Kovalenko, Director of the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogics Academy";

  • Yevhen Hryhorenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Law Disciplines, School of Law;

  • Yurii Isichenko, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Literature History, School of Philology;

  • Oleksandr Kagramanian, Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute of International Education;

  • Oleksandr Kyrychenko, Professor of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, School of Chemistry;

  • Oleksandr Kozlov, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Immunology, School of Medicine;

  • Svitlana Yanovska, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Psychology, School of Psychology.

Honorary diplomas from the Kharkiv Regional State (Military) Administration were awarded to:

  • Kateryna Borysenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Geography and Cartography, School of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism;

  • Vitalii Chervonyi, Associate Professor of the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Business and Food Technologies, Education and Research Institute "Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business".

The Head of the Kharkiv Regional State (Military) Administration expressed gratitude to:

  • Oleh Botsula, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical and Biomedical Electronics and Complex Information Technologies, School of Radiophysics, Biomedical Electronics and Computer Systems;

  • Anton Ovcharenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Physics, Education and Research Institute of Computer Physics and Energy.

For conscientious and fruitful work, high professionalism, and contributions to science and education, certificates from the Kharkiv Regional Council and letters of gratitude from the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council were awarded to:

  • Zoltan Zyman, Professor of the Department of Solid-State Physics, School of Physics;

  • Nadiia Morozova, Head of the Department of Management, Business and Professional Communication, "Karazin Banking Institute";

  • Roman Borysov, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology, School of Sociology;

  • Valeriia Nikolaienko, Associate Professor of the Department of English Philology and Teaching Methods of Foreign Languages, School of Foreign Languages.

The Kharkiv City Council presented an Honorary Diploma for dedication, professionalism, and contributions to science and education to:

  • Ihor Biletskyi, Associate Professor of the Department of Culture Theory and Philosophy of Science, School of Philosophy;

  • Olena Hololobova, Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Monitoring and Nature Conservation, Education and Research Institute of Ecology;

  • Yevheniia Kiosa, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Genetics and Cytology, School of Biology.

The Mayor of Kharkiv expressed gratitude to:

  • Viktoriia Kuleshova, Professor of the Department of Educational Technologies and Occupational Safety, Bakhmut Education and Research Professional-Pedagogical Institute;

  • Svitlana Pustohvar, Associate Professor of the Department of Management and Administration, "Karazin School of Business".

A Letter of Appreciation from the Rector of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was awarded to:

  • Olena Arshava, Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Mathematics and Informatics, School of Mathematics and Informatics, for significant contributions to science and education, exemplary performance of duties, and on the occasion of Science Day.

The Karazin Medal — a high honorary distinction — was awarded to:

  • Professor Oleksandr Kovalov, Department of Theoretical Physics named after Academician I. M. Lifshitz, School of Physics, for many years of diligent work, significant contribution to the development of the university, and on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

The ceremony concluded with letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to the Karazin University team for high publication activity in Scopus and Web of Science journals and strong performance in international scientific grant implementation during 2019–2023. Named acknowledgments from the Ministry were given to:

  • Professor Ihor Hirka, Education and Research Institute "School of Physics and Technology";

  • Associate Professor Nika Kryklia, Department of Physical Chemistry, School of Chemistry.

During the session, members of the Academic Council adopted decisions on the awarding of academic titles and approved personnel matters. Iryna Shteymiller, Head of the International Relations Office, presented a report on the implementation of the university's international activities.

In accordance with the agenda, the Council approved:

  • Regulations on structural subdivisions and decisions on optimizing the university’s structure;

  • The Regulation on programs awarding partial qualifications or micro-qualifications at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University;

  • New educational programs and curricula for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels;

  • The distribution of licensed enrollment capacity by program and study mode for the 2025/2026 academic year;

  • The updated Rules of Admission for higher education in 2025;

  • Certification programs;

  • The establishment of a number of ad hoc specialized academic councils;

  • The publication and online dissemination of several academic and methodological publications.
