Meeting of the Academic Council of Karazin University
A regular meeting of the Academic Council was held at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Karazin academic community welcomed a representative of EPAM Ukraine, an international IT company and a long-standing partner of the University. Ivan Mikhieiev, Head of EPAM’s educational programmes in eastern Ukraine, marked the 20th anniversary of the company’s Ukrainian office by highlighting Karazin University’s proactive role in the development of IT education and presented an award to Dmytro Uzlov, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, with whom the company maintains fruitful cooperation.

The meeting continued with a report by Yurii Sliusarenko, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Head of the O. I. Akhiezer Department of Nuclear and High Energy Physics, entitled “Academician O. I. Akhiezer as a Lecturer and Educator.” The presentation was devoted to the scientific and pedagogical legacy of the outstanding scholar and his role in shaping the Kharkiv scientific school.
The Academic Council considered issues related to the conferral of academic titles, with significant attention paid to staffing matters. Members of the Council supported the decision to establish a preparatory department titled “Open Path to Higher Education.” Amendments to the University Statute were also discussed.
Within the framework of the meeting, the draft Anti-Corruption Programme of the University for 2026–2028 was approved, along with a number of regulations governing faculties, educational and research institutes, departments, structural units, and the museums of the University Museum Complex.
By separate decisions, the Academic Council approved the overall quota of students to be awarded academic scholarships based on the results of the final semester assessment of the first semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, the outcomes of the certification of research staff in 2025, educational programmes and programmes leading to partial and micro-qualifications, as well as the Regulations on the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Research Papers in the field “Current Issues of Cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.”
During the meeting, decisions were also supported regarding the establishment of specialised academic councils and ad hoc specialised councils at the University for the defence of dissertations in a number of specialties, as well as the conferral of the title of Professor-Consultant.
The work of the Academic Council demonstrated the consistent implementation of the development strategy of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, aimed at ensuring high standards of education, research, and academic governance.
