How the Second CMS Masterclass 2026 Took Place
Another meeting with big science and a deep dive into the world of elementary particles was held at the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology.” It was a day when theory comes alive and complex graphs become understandable.

What made this day special?
In-depth theory: Participants explored the intricacies of beam control at the Large Hadron Collider from Professor Ihor Kyryllin and examined the phenomenon of the “semi-bare electron” together with Professor Serhii Trofymenko. High-energy physics is always about the ability to see more than meets the eye.
Student leadership: The highlight of the day was the practical session. This year, the masterclass on processing real data from the CMS experiment was conducted by our third-year students: Danylo Maslo, Artem Dehtiarov, and Mykyta Kyrpychov. Here, students from the early years already become part of the international scientific community and share their experience with others.
Direct connection with CERN: The final highlight was a video conference with the Large Hadron Collider. The discussion was moderated by Pylyp Kuznietsov, helping participants ask insightful questions to scientists in Geneva and feel part of the global research network.
