Karazin Physics Graduate Sofiia Baletska Explores Advanced Technologies at the University of Oxford
We proudly share the success story of our alumna, Sofiia Baletska, who completed her studies at the School of Physics of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. After an outstanding defense of her bachelor's thesis and active participation in international research projects, Sofiia continues her scientific journey at leading research centers across Europe.
She is currently working at the University of Oxford within the framework of the Mu3e experiment, which investigates rare muon decays as potential evidence of lepton flavor violation — a phenomenon that may lie beyond the Standard Model of particle physics.
As a member of the Oxford Physics Microstructure Detector (OPMD) group, Sofiia is involved in the quality control of silicon pixel detectors — a key component of the experiment’s outer tracker. Her work includes high-precision measurements, electrical testing, and data analysis in ultra-clean laboratories that demand exceptional care and technical skill.
We sincerely congratulate Sofiia on her recent achievements and wish her continued success on the path to groundbreaking scientific discoveries. Her story is an inspiration to all who aspire to build a career in science and contribute to the advancement of fundamental physics.
