All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference 'Theoretical and Applied Aspects of Biographistics: Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of Vasyl Karazin' – Summary of the Conference

On September 26, 2023, the VIII All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference "Theoretical and Applied Aspects of Biographistics: Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of Vasyl Karazin" took place at Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The conference was co-organized by the Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the School of Philosophy and the Center for Ukrainian Studies and P. T. Tronko Center for Area Studies.

The conference saw participation from over 80 attendees, including representatives from Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, Kyiv, Berezhany, Zhytomyr, Kanev, Kramatorsk, Kropyvnytskyi, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, and Kherson, as well as members of the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

During the plenary session, participants were welcomed by Vice-Rector Anton Panteliimonov, Dean of the School of Philosophy Ivan Karpenko, and Director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies and Area Studies named after Academician P.T. Tron'ko, Serhiy Kudelko. A video message from the Karazin family heir, Larisa Deshko, was also presented.

The conference began with a presentation titled "Vasyl Nazarovych Karazin: A 21st-Century Perspective" by Olha Vovk, Deputy Director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local History named after Academician P.T. Tron'ko.

Olha Nazarova, Head of the Intercultural Communication and Project Activities Department of the Central Scientific Library at Karazin University, introduced an exhibition of books dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Vasyl Nazarovych Karazin. Additionally, there was a presentation of several new publications in the field of Biography Studies.

The work of the conference then continued in three sections: "Vasyl Nazarovych Karazin: Biography, Social Environment, Creative Legacy," "Theoretical Biographistics," and "Education, Science, and Culture through the Prism of Biography Studies."
