Celebrations of the 219th Anniversary of Karazin University

In celebration of the 219th anniversary of its founding, Karazin University hosted a series of festive events. The university, which first opened its doors on January 29, 1805, received warm congratulations from the university administration, the leadership of Kharkiv and the region, schools representatives, students, friends of the university, and honorary guests.

A moment of silence was observed to honor the memory of Karazin community members who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.

Rector Tetyana Kaganovska addressed the attendees, emphasizing Karazin University's role as a modern and high-quality educational institution with deep-rooted traditions, globally recognized. She highlighted the university's historical significance, mentioning that in 1906, the first lecture in Ukrainian was delivered here. The spirit of unity and the university's commitment to the development of strong, free, bold, cultural, and energetic individuals were emphasized. The rector expressed gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine, university staff, schools, students, friends, and partners.

Oleg Synegubov, Chief of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, praised Karazin University for its comprehensive development of vital programs in social-psychological rehabilitation, veteran spaces, and hubs.

Mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, acknowledged the university's resilience over the 219 years, despite challenges, and expressed gratitude for its role as a significant brand in Kharkiv's development. He emphasized the importance of moving forward, thanks to the efforts of the Armed Forces defending the country.

Congratulations were also extended by Eugene Grytskov, advisor to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Council, Alexander Sidorenko, director of the Kharkiv Regional Center for Education Quality Assessment, and Anastasia Shapoval, representative of Kharkiv IT Cluster.

Greetings and video messages were sent by Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Anatoliy Zagorodniy, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and others.

On the occasion of the 219th anniversary, Karazin University members were honored with certificates of appreciation from the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Kharkiv Regional Council, and the mayor, as well as awards, certificates, and honors from the university.

The creative gift for the attendees was a performance by the academic choir Ad Libitum, conducted by Anastasia Ishchenko.
