Solemn meeting of the Academic Council of the University on the occasion of the 218th anniversary of the opening of Karazin University

A solemn meeting of the Academic Council of the university, dedicated to the 218th anniversary of the opening of Karazin University, took place in the Yermilov Center of Contemporary Art.

On the occasion of this landmark event, the president of the university Tetyana Kaganovska congratulated those present: "Today we celebrate 218 years since the opening of our university. This is not really the first extremely difficult year in Karazin University more than two hundred years of history, but it testified to our strength, spirit and character. Each time, it rose from the ashes like a phoenix, because university ideas and traditions are viable in spite of everything, because the university is our incredible people, united for the sake of the future. In Karazin University, music of resistance is heard, cultural events, education and science take place despite the war, we help volunteers and media people. The university is a place where ideas, thoughts, intelligence are born, and our Ukrainian future is formed.

The University in the history of Kharkiv is the transformation of a small town into a modern European metropolis, where there are always creative ideas, creativity, science and culture. The University for Ukraine is the history of the formation of the Ukrainian nation, our language and identity, national and cultural revival, world-class discoveries. For me personally, the university is my love, my universe, my inspiration and my boundless gratitude. The university will help us preserve Kharkiv as we know, appreciate and love it. For us, the university is a light of hope in the darkness of war."

The president noted that the university, its employees, teachers and students managed to survive thanks to the heroic work of our defenders, the support and help of friends of the university, colleagues and leaders.

The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Serhiy Shkarlet, sent Karazin University his birthday greetings: "One of the oldest and most powerful institutions of higher education in Ukraine is currently celebrating its 218th anniversary. In your hands is a priceless treasure of power, history, identity and consciousness. This is all you are selflessly passing on to future generations. Don't rest on your laurels, grow, gain new knowledge and implement innovative solutions for our common future."

Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, personally congratulated Karazin University's team: "The university is not just buildings that we will definitely rebuild. The university is a scientific school, a teaching staff that is full of the spirit of Karazin University. It is very important that even under these circumstances you continue to provide educational services. Karazin University currently serves as the flagship of science, education, higher education of Ukraine and is an example for other higher education institutions." Oleh Vasyliovych also presented the university's researchers with certificates of appreciation, thanks and awards from the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for conscientious work, high professionalism and competence and on the occasion of the 218th anniversary of the opening of Karazin University.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov emphasized that thanks to Karazin University, the fame of the university, Kharkiv and Ukraine is spreading all over the world. The mayor of Kharkiv gave thanks for conscientious fruitful work, high professionalism and competence and on the occasion of the 218th anniversary of the grand opening of the university to Karazin University employees.

Congratulations were also sent by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Council Tetyana Yehorova-Lutsenko.

Anatoly Zahorodniy, a graduate of Karazin University in 1972, head of the university's Supervisory Board, president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, addressed the people of Karazin with a video greeting.

Vasyl Kremen, president of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, member of the university's Supervisory Board, also delivered a video greeting on the occasion of Karazin University's 218th anniversary.

The head of the North-Eastern Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of the university, Volodymyr Seminozhenko, personally congratulated the members.

The president presented honorary awards, thanks and certificates of the Kharkiv Regional Council, awards, thanks and awards of the Karazina University to the employees of the university.

For a significant personal contribution to the development of student public life, active citizenship, personal initiative, responsibility and indifference to university life during martial law, Karazin University students received certificates.

On behalf of the student community of the university, the head of the student council of the university, Mykyta Kucherov, addressed the audience. He noted that for every student, the university is a place of happiness and bright meetings, a temple of science and power, where everyone aspires to return, and for reinforced concrete Kharkiv, Karazin University became his titanium heart, which continues to beat despite everything.

The participants of the event observed a moment of silence in memory of Karazin students and employees who died in the struggle for the freedom and independence of our country.

A creative gift for those present was the performance of partners and friends of the Karazin University "Eastern Opera Kharkiv Orchestra".
