At V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, a solemn matriculation ceremony for first-year students was held. This year, more than 3,600 new members joined the large Karazin family, including winners of national and international Olympiads, art and sports competitions, as well as 24 entrants who achieved the highest score of 200 in the National Multi-Subject Test.

The atmosphere of the event was truly festive, filled with respect and pride. Karazin University is not only a cradle of science and education but also a symbol of courage and resilience. Among its students, faculty, and alumni are those who today defend Ukraine with arms in hand, as well as those who gave their lives for its independence. Thanks to their sacrifice, we continue our work in our native Kharkiv under the Ukrainian flag. Words of encouragement for the new Karazinites also came from the frontline, shared in a video greeting by Ukraine’s defenders.

Rector Tetyana Kaganovska addressed the freshmen with welcoming words:
“Today you take the first step in a great journey that will change your life. Here you will gain knowledge that will help you build a new Ukraine, you will find friends, mentors, and your own path. The university is more than just studying. It is a space of freedom, responsibility, and dreams. Believe in yourselves, set bold goals, and do not be afraid to face challenges. We will be there to support and inspire you. The future begins right here — at Karazin University, together with you!”

Greetings were also extended by vice-rectors, faculty deans, and directors of education and research institutes.

Advisor to the Head of Kharkiv Regional Council Yevhenii Hrytskov congratulated the first-year students and wished them success in their studies and productive student years.

Musical greetings were presented by the university orchestra “Karazin Orchestra” conducted by Tetyana Bohatyrova, and the university choir “Ad libitum” led by Kseniia Pidopryhora. A symbolic highlight of the ceremony was the freshmen’s recitation of the traditional Karazin student oath.

Important words of guidance were shared by representatives of the student self-government, Sofiia Panasiuk and Oleksandr Peliukh, who urged first-year students to walk boldly along the path of knowledge, discoveries, and valuable life lessons.

The ceremony concluded with the performance of the international student anthem “Gaudeamus” by the “Ad libitum” choir.

We congratulate our first-year students and wish them an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, creative achievements, and victories! Welcome to the great Karazin family!
