Launching a Program at Karazin University — Provision of Initial Medical Assistance to Education Seekers

On August 28, 2023, the Center for Postgraduate Education, based at the Medical School of the university, for the first time launched a training program for pedagogical staff and managerial personnel of the Comprehensive Secondary Education Institution of Kharkiv City under the educational program "Provision of Primary Medical Aid to Education Seekers."

The program includes 35 participants from the municipal institution "Kharkiv Lyceum No. 28 of the Kharkiv City Council": the director, deputy directors responsible for educational and upbringing activities, teachers of various subjects in primary, basic, and senior specialized school levels, as well as a practical psychologist.

The opening day of the training was initiated by the dean of the Medical School, Tetyana Lyadova, who welcomed the attendees, shared the history of the development of the Medical School of Karazin University, and elaborated on the specifics of preparing future medical professionals in providing comprehensive medical assistance. She also discussed the unique aspects of delivering such aid in times of military conflict.

Mikhailo Tatarinov, the Director of the Center for Postgraduate Education, introduced the specific aspects of the organizational support for professional development. He presented the schedule of the educational process based on institutional learning methods, provided insights into sheltering procedures during air raid alarms, and addressed pertinent questions from the participants.

Maria Matviienko, the Head of the Department of General Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Palliative Medicine at the Medical School, conducted a diverse workshop on delivering primary medical assistance in various domestic situations. She offered examples of variable approaches to providing such aid.

At the Simulation Center of the Medical School, Ivan Rudas, an Assistant at the Department of General Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Palliative Medicine, familiarized the educators with the specifics of practical sessions scheduled for September 2023. He outlined the conditions for complying with occupational safety requirements during practical exercises.
